Welcome to the Mercer County Commission website!

We would like to thank you for your interest in your local county government! Located in the heart of southern West Virginia, Mercer County has a population of over 61,000 residents. Located within a 12 hour drive to nearly 60% of the United States population, the county is geographically central to opportunity on the east coast. Our economy relies heavily on a coal supporting industries, retail establishments, and exceptional opportunities for tourism and recreation.

The Mercer County school system is comprised of multiple blue ribbon elementary, middle and high schools, two universities, and three community colleges. We are continually striving for expansion of our emergency services, and we are progressively working towards becoming an economic hub for transportation services in the eastern US.

As elected officials, we are honored to represent our constituents in the best manner possible, and we welcome our visitors with open arms.

Our vision is to provide a place where families and communities are valued as the highest priority where we live, work, and play with an exceptional quality of life.
