How do I get items on the Commission Agenda?
The Commissioners set their own agenda. Each department, agency, or organization transacting business with the Commission must make a request in writing for potential legislative action on a particular issue. All supporting documentation for each individual request is required at the time the request is made. There is a deadline for items to be received which is almost always noon the first Monday of the month. Any item received after the deadline is automatically considered the following month.
Once all the requests for commission action are received by the County Administrator, an agenda meeting will be held on the 1st Tuesday for the commissioners to decide which items will be on the metting agends.
From time to time, special meetings will be held to help expedite business that cannot be done at the regularly scheduled monthly meeting. As such, these will also be disclosed in accordance with open governmental procedures.
Can anyone attend Commission Meetings?
The meetings of the Mercer County Commission are open to the public.
Generally held on the second Tuesday of the month, the Commission meets at 10:00 a.m. at the County Commission Courtroom on the top floor in the Old Courthouse building.
** UPDATE… Until further notice, due to COVID-19, all meetings will be held the second Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. Notice of all meetings will be posted in accordance with open governmental procedures, and the Commission is actively working to expand technological capabilities to broadcast these via Facebook and the Commission website.
